How do you feel when you've brought a problem to the attention of a patient and when the Dr comes in to do the "exam" he either ignores it or watches it, especially caries in decidious teeth that will not exfoilate in several years!!
Have you talked to the dentist about this? Does the Dr. not like treating children? What about a referral dentist or specialist? Try to be proactive, and if that doesnt work you may want to work in another office that treats decay.
I am new on pinkTooth, but this especially caught my attention...My Dr.is a great man, but his dentistry leaves a lot to be desired. I see caries, open margins, etc every day, that are ignored. I need this job, but this is really weighing on my personal and professional ethics. Everyone in the office agrees with this large problem, and we have tried to tell the Dr. There seems to be a refusal for him to commit/create a treatment plan. This frustration has to be palpable to the patient. I pride myself as a professional, and this is wearing me down.
I am also new to this site and am looking to gain experience since I am a recent graduate of DA school; however, I have been in this same predicament in another field. Jobs are getting harder to come by, BUT, if you are feeling uneasy, then begin looking for another job. Keep it quiet and DO NOT tell any other co-workers. I understand how you feel and it is a hard spot to be in. Good luck and hopefully one day the dentist sees what he can do better by listening to his patients, but also his staff.
